Spice Cake DSP

It’s Sunday and with the time being set back, I am loving having what feels like extra time this morning.  Here are two of my Thankyou cards for  purchasing customers from last week’s workshop.

These are made with the beautiful Spice Cake DSP.   I used Pool Party and Soft Suede CS and the other one uses More Mustard and Soft Suede  I stamped the background leaf with the same ink color as the CS.  The leaves use the Rock and Roll technique again to get some fabulous color. The card on the Left has pool party with more mustard and the card on the right has more mustard with soft suede.  See the cute little tags that are attached to the stems?  The tag punch and stampset really make for some cute additions to your cards.   If you love the Gently Falling stamp set and the Spice Cake DSP as much as me,  you need to get them soon as they are only available until Jan. 3, 2012.  They come from the Holiday Mini and can be purchased through me or my on-line store.  I love fall and all the crunch leaves.  It is fun to watch them swirl in the wind.  Sadly enough, the snow has come and what was on my lawn is now covered inwhite.  It is starting to make me feel like getting my Christmas Cards made though.  I will  have to post some of them later on this week. Have good week and thanks for stopping in.

Nature Walk Mini Thank you

I saw this idea created by another demonstrator and now cannot remember where. I changed it slightly and added my own touch.  The cards are little 3 X 3 cards.  You cut Very Vanilla CS into 3″ X 6″ and fold in half.   I used a different pattern from the DSP Botanical Gazette paper pack for each one  cut at 2 3/4″ X 2 3/4″ and stamped the coordinating image on the card itself.  I sponged the coordinating color around the edges of the paper and used my Early Espresso to stamp the image and sponge the sentiment that I punched out using my label punch and the 1 3/8″ X 5/8″ oval punch.  I used my bone folder to rough the edge of my punched sentiment a little to make it stand out on the card.

Then I created a little mini folder to hold the cards by taking a 7″ X 7″ coordinating paper, scoring it at 3.5″ each direction (down the center each way) and then folding it and cutting two of the corners off from my score lines.  Then I stamped the the flower image along the inside and the outside.

Then lastly I took my Label punch and used a retired SU  Thank you I have had for many years to create my sentiment on the front folder and some of the beautiful seam binding ribbon to create a tie.  This ribbon is so soft and it creates some really nice bows.  I hope it does not retire but gets included in the new catalog that comes out in July.  However, you can still purchase it until the end of April and if you really want some, I suggest you don’t wait in case it becomes unavailable for purchase.  I think I will get a few more rolls of it, especially the very vanilla as it goes with so many things.

First Workshop

Friday night I held my very first workshop.  I had a lot of fun giving it.  I had a difficult time knowing what to share.  I finally managed to narrow down and zero in on some choices.  I want to share the ideas and projects that I demonstrated and had on display.

I shared some 3 X 3 Thank you cards using products from the Occasions Mini.  I have to admit this idea was one I got on-line.There are so many products in this little catalog.  I had a hard time knowing where to start purchasing and I still have a wish list.

This was such a fun project and so simple to make.

Stamp set:

So Happy For You  (Free celebration item with $50.00 purchase)

Inks:

Early Espresso

Assessories:

Framed Tulips Embossing Folder

1 3/8 X 5/8 oval punch, 1 3/4 X 7/8 oval punch, scalloped oval punch

Stampin Dimensionals

Directions:

1.  Cut a card base from Baja Breeze, Rose Red, or Always Artichoke at 3″ X 6″ and fold in half to make a 3″ X 3″ card base.

2. Cut a piece of Crumb Cake CS to 2 3/4″ X 2 3/4″ and Emboss with the Tulip emboss folder along one side and sponge in Early Espresso ink.  Center this on the card base and attach.

3.  Cut another piece of the Baja Breeze, Rose Red, or Always Artichoke at 2 1/2″ X 2″.

4.  Cut a piece of the DSP to match your chosen color at 2 1/4″ X  1 3/4″.  Layer the  two together and attach.

5.  Take a 3″ piece of the seam binding ribbon to match your project and center on the card pieces from step 4 and adhere the ends on the back.  Attach to your card just above the row of tulips.

6.  Punch a piece of Crumb Cake out with the Scallop Oval and the 1 3/8″ X 5/*” punch.  Sponge the edges with Early Espresso Ink.  Stamp the sentiment on the small oval.  You might want to stamp the sentiment and then punch it out, especially if using the wood mount stamps.

7.  Punch a piece of your chosen color of card stock with the 1 3/4″ X 7/8″ punch.  Layer the punched out pieces together and put two stampin dimentionals on the back and center over the ribbon.

8. Spritz with the Vanilla Shimmer for a really pretty effect.  Let it dry and add some pearls to the lower right corner on the DSP.

Hope you’ll make a few of these.  Enjoy!  I have another one of my ideas tomorrow.
